Photos taken with Mergin corrupted after Android update
We have observed some strange behavior on our tablets that have been updated.
The photo files created when taken with the Mergin Map are not complete. They are visible in the application, but the jpeg file can not be viewed. The file size is also much smaller. I've attached two jpeg files --one that is working, and one that has an issue.
Before updating the android system, it was working.

Thanks for reporting the problem.
Can you please check your QGIS project properties for Mergin Maps? Is it configured to keep original photo quality?
Hello,
Yes, the default Original setting was conserved.
Best, Quynh

Hello,
Update after fiddling with the file size properties under QGIS project properties. The resulting files are still incomplete.

Hi @qnmai . From your first comment, is it the first photo that is considered incomplete? By incomplete do you mean low quality? Because the problem doesn't seem to be of any other kind. Are both photos taken by same device? Do you experience this issue on other devices? The first photo that has low resolution seems to be taken exactly with low photo quality setting, that's why erpas suggested checking the configuration. Would it be possible that camera itself is taking the photos in such quality? Perhaps the camera settings were changed.
Hi,
The file can't be viewed from the windows photo viewer in Windows (tested on 7, 10, and 11). We get the message as in the photo attached. We reset our tablet to factory settings to verify the camera settings. It started occurring after an android update.

Hi @qnmai , thank you for your response. It is hard to tell in what way the image is corrupted as it is seems it is rendered correctly here in Github (2 attached photos, first in lower quality, second in high quality, both shown properly) and even after downloading them they can be opened and seen just as any regular image. Let us know if the reset resolved the issue.
Hi, We reset and it still creates the small photo with the error message (on windows 10 and 11). Not sure where to go from here...

another information regarding the photo with an error -- photos taken with the regular camera (not from mergin) are regular and can be viewed.
thanks in advance

Hi, so we can assume, that this issue is related only to device Galaxy Tab A and only when the photo is taken within the Mergin Maps app, right? Other devices do not experience such issue, right?
Could you please try to test taking a photo within other project, like one you can find here - https://app.merginmaps.com/projects/documentation/form_setup/tree It would be helpful to see whether the issue persists across all the projects, even such basic project as the one I redirected you to. Thank you!
Hi,
Confirming that this was an issue on our Galaxy Tab A with Mergin maps (multiple versions) that did not occur on our Galaxy Active3. It occurs on multiple projects. I will test your project too when I have a moment.
Best, Quynh
