Error when choosing game

Open EinWaumpel opened this issue 2 years ago • 3 comments

When I choose a game an error comes.

I expected, that now a new window comes where i can choose things, but an error comes.

  • Distro: Ubuntu 22.04
  • Protontricks installation method: Flatpak
  • Protontricks version: protontricks (1.7.0)
  • Steam version: Beta

I was asked to paste this here:

Found Steam directory at /home/gamemaster_x7/.steam/steam. You can also define Steam directory manually using $STEAM_DIR Using default Steam Runtime at /home/gamemaster_x7/.steam/root/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime WINETRICKS environment variable is not available. Searching from $PATH. Found 1 Steam library folders Currently logged-in Steam user: gamemaster_x7 Couldn't find custom shortcuts. Maybe none have been created yet? Using 'zenity' as GUI provider

Sorry for the delay.

What is the full error? The error dialog should also include text before the log lines you copied.

I do have a similar Problem, after launching protontricks with flatpak run com.github.Matoking.protontricks --gui --verbose i got this protontricks (INFO): Running inside Flatpak sandbox, version 1.15.6. protontricks (INFO): Found Steam directory at /var/home/***/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/.local/share/Steam protontricks (INFO): Using default Steam Runtime at /var/home/***/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime protontricks (INFO): WINETRICKS environment variable is not available. Searching from $PATH. protontricks (INFO): Found 1 Steam library folders protontricks (INFO): Currently logged-in Steam user: **** protontricks (INFO): Couldn't find custom shortcuts. Maybe none have been created yet? protontricks (INFO): Using 'yad' as GUI provider

The window to select the Game opens and closes shortly after without any further errormessage.

I have solved the problem for myself. It was probably due to KDE closing some flatpakts that were supposedly running in the background. With the help of Flatseal I was able to adjust the authorization under Portals>Background to allow Protontricks to run in the background. After that I was able to use Protontricks
