Protontricks: command not found
Whenever I try to do a command in konsole like
Protontricks -c "wine uninstaller" 244210
Or even simply
Protontricks -l
Every time I just get protontricks: command not found. I have downloaded protontricks off discover and FlatHub. I'm super new to this am I missing something? Some of the commands I need to do to modify my prefix I have done with the warp menu but Im sometimes guessing when I would rather just write everything in konsole and feel confident in executing what I'm doing. I'm on a steam deck- steam OS.
I added the Flatpak recommended commands and rebooted through terminal and it works. But still failing at what I'm doing lol. Works good!
Hey! Just noticed you are trying to make 244210 AKA Assetto Corsa work. I just spent an entire week searching for a fix for the game on my Deck.
Here is what finally did it for me (follow the steps in desktop mode):
- Since you were playing with some other configs, start by deleting your prefix folder (
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/244210/pfx - Through Discover, install
ProtonUp-Qt. This will help us install a specific version of Proton GE. - Open
ProtonUp-Qt, installGE-Proton7-54using the Add Version button, then restart Steam. - In your Steam library, right click AC and got to Properties > Compatibility. Check
Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tooland selectGE-Proton7-54from the list. Also, under Properties > General, add the following launch argment:WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dwrite=n,b" %command%. - Launch the game and let it crash. This is to create the pfx folder.
- Once the game has crashed, run
protontricks 244210 -q dotnet472in your terminal. This will take a while, just let it do its thing. - Launch the game again, and Voila! It should work perfectly, and without the annoying UI bug from Proton 5 (game lags heavily in the pits and any time there is text on the screen in Proton 5).
Let me know if this works for you, or if you need other pointers! I know the feeling of trying to get this game running, I literally just got it to work on my Deck :) I can run the game on high settings at 1080p and it holds a solid 60 fps (at least in the benchmark, haven't tried it extensively) Enjoy!
Wow thank you very much I will try this out tonight! Are playing on a micro SD card or an internal SSD?
AC is stuck on running nothing is happening on my screen in desktop mode just staring at AC game page. Have the stop button option and to the left in my game library AC says running in green. This is before running dotnet. I then thought that it's maybe a glitch hit stop and ran the dotnet command and it crashed. EDIT: deleted prefix did all the same steps running again and stuck on running before dotnet command.
Try stopping the game and run the dotnet command afterwards nonetheless. I think this happened to me also!
Edit Let me know what's up!
I had tried it and it crashed when I played the game. I'm gonna try it again. I also get Microsoft version pop ups. What do I do about that? Could me using a micro sd card have any problem with getting the game to run?
Hmm that's odd, I don't remember encountering this behaviour. Did you verify the Proton version used by the game in Steam?
You using an SD card should not affect anything, that's the setup I use also. Even my compatdata is on my SD card, and it works a treat.
I know it's a pain, but I would probably try and delete your pfx folder once more, and try it again. Let me know if you find anything new in your testing!
Will try again tomorrow and tell you everything that happens if it doesn't work. I really appreciate you trying to help!
What is the best way to delete my prefix. I just but it in the trash bin and empty the trash bin. Now it won't show up with all of my other prefixes. I've tried to do this a couple times with different peoples tutorials too and after I deleted it the first time it never showed up in my compact data folder ever again. If I look up the prefix in my find after launching the game it does exist.
Sorry, missed your comment. What I usually do is navigate to my game's compatdata folder (in this case <your steam path>/steamapps/compatdata/244210/, select the pfx folder and press Shift+Del on my keyboard. This permanently deletes the folder without going through the Trash Bin.
I added the Flatpak recommended commands and rebooted through terminal and it works. But still failing at what I'm doing lol. Works good!
I'm having the same problem. What are the "flatpak recommended commands"?
