Unable to place typing cursor at end of editable combobox where the text content exceeds the width of the control

I am unable to find the magic place where I can insert my cursor at the end using a mouse. It seems to always place at the second to last character or click the drop down.

Additionally, if I use a keyboard to move the cursor to the end, it seems to disappear.
