Adding error handling for the getHostByName function

Hi. I think the project is dead. I start a new one - thixo. It's based on sprig but I want to improve source code and expand the number of helpers. You suggestion is interesting. I'd appreciate your help if you'd redirect PR to the my repo. I can implement it myself if you don't want to.

oh wasn't aware, they do mention that this project is not regularly updated, only yearly rather than monthly/weekly but sure will create the same PR in your project
