[Bug] can't "open with" if app is already open.

I have an issue where I use MarkEdit as a default editor for markdown documents on my Mac. When I double click on a markdown file, it opens it in MarkEdit. This works as long as MarkEdit is actually closed, when I double click. If on the other hand, MarkEdit is running., but doesn't have any open files actively loaded in it -- the icon is in the tray but no file is being edited -- then when I double click on markdown files, they do not open at all.

Can you please share a recording? It is a bit hard to imagine.

For example, I am already confused by "open with" and double click to open.
