QLVideo handing h264/265 .mp4/mov files extremely slow & low-resolution

Hi:

I'm using a 2018 Intel MacBook Pro with macOS Ventura 13.2.

I updated to the 2.0 version today. IIRC, previously .mp4/mov files with h264/265 codec will not trigger QLVideo and macOS generates thumbnails extremely fast. However now it seems like QLVideo takes it over, and it's performing really slowly (thumbnailer process taking up ~200% CPU). The thumbnail image is low-resolution and blurry: It also sometimes generate broken thumbnails like a gray image

Since IIRC macOS 10.15 the only way for QLVideo to be able to generate thumbnails for some file types and some codecs that macOS doesn't handle natively - in particular .avi files and older codecs in .mov files - is to take over thumbnail generation for all video files. Obviously it shouldn't be performing this badly 'though.

Please report new issues following the instructions at the bottom of this page using the above problematic files.

Thanks makes sense. Then maybe the only issue is that 2.0 is performing too slow and sometimes generates broken thumbnails (this didn't happen in 1.x). I'll try to replicate it with some simple video files and submit a report in app.

@goodman-capu I'd try a rebuilt version from scratch. Unfortunately, I have only Monterey and Catalina versions where QLVideo works fine

@eirnym I do believe QLVideo 2.0 produces blurry (and sometimes broken) thumbnail images all the time. I confirmed it on macOS Ventura 13.2 & macOS Big Sur 11.1 with both Intel & Apple Silicon MacBooks.
