How can I root my phone? Fixes to dolphin using proot-distro? Any good hubs for displaying to an external monitor?
Hello @LinuxDroidMaster , thank you for releasing well made videos to youtube showing us how to install a linux deskop onto our android devices! I wanted to ask if you might be able to point me in the direction to learn how to root my samsung phone because I haven't found any reliable methods (or reassuringly safe methods) that can do this.
I would PREFER to use the proot-distro method but I noticed that there are some bugs when accessing dolphin and some other apps in KDE (I followed this video presenting a KDE install on archlinux via proot-distro https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PX3I1zLqlY&t=1s), I was wondering if there are any methods to fix these issues that you have found since the making of the video?
Lastly, do you have any recommendations for hubs that my phone can connect to via USB-C that will properly render the phone display? Generic hubs that I use simply don't seem to transfer the data appropriately and aren't showing the phone display!
Thanks in advance for your time!
Whether a USB hub carries video, depends on whether it supports DisplayPort alternate mode. Such devices are labeled according to the guide here:

See the graphic under "DP Alt Mode vs. USB-C."
As to whether your Samsung phone can be rooted, this is beyond this forum. Try searching for your model on the XDA Developers site here:

Note that, at least in the USA, most Samsung devices purchased directly from a carrier cannot be rooted because their bootloader will not unlock.
