Have you ever thought about adding support for SDB files that contain bones?
I don't think i worked with SDB files yet. I was in the process of adding support for more model formats previously like GLTF to have support for things like bones since it currently only supports .OBJ for models. And unfortunately .OBJ will not be enough for working with bones. At least there's no good way to do it with Blender that i am aware of.
GLTF seems like a good alternative since it is based on JSON and the structure of the SDB is similar to that of the GDB. Also, the text versions of the GDB look like JSON
Also, there is a bug here, when exporting the OBJ, the texture names are exported in lowercase, which should be exported in uppercase. In the MDB they are referenced in lowercase, but the game searches for the files regardless of whether it is lowercase or uppercase
