Misc: I am writing a small linux client. Need advice

So I want to write a small linux replacement for myself. I want it to be a drop in replacement for HASS.agent.

Inspecting the MQTT topics, I see that there are specific configuration.

Can someone point me to where that is documented, or the place in code where it is set?
