Angle brackets, but not a link (e.g. `<stuff>`) are not outputted

If angle brackets are written not as a hyperlink, but as intended text, ReMarkable ends up stripping it out of the output for some unknown reason. A problem is with how to distinguish the difference between HTML? Is it possible at all?
