Old accounts don't work, new ones don't want to log in.

same problem here, can't "login again" for old account, but I could add new authenticator yesterday.
This is a known issue, and SDA isn't going to get updated for a while. Jessecar96 themselves has said on discord that he's too busy to update SDA right now. I highly recommend that you should use the steam mobile app, if you are able to.
If you are interested, I maintain steamguard-cli. It's capable of reading the exactly the same maFiles that SDA does, so you don't have to deal with a trade ban. It doesn't have a UI, so if you aren't really comfortable using a terminal, I would recommend you use the steam mobile app. You can download it here: https://github.com/dyc3/steamguard-cli/releases

Perhaps your project is interesting and in demand, but not in this topic. This requires not only reading mafiles, but also creating it. A huge number of projects use the mafiles standard and that is what is important to create this standard. If you have knowledge in this area, then make a better project similar to sda and it will be in great demand.

SDA needs to be updated to .NET 8 first before updating the SteamKit2 nuget package.
.NET standard support was dropped earlier this year.
Looking at the source code, this was made in Windows Forms which is limited to the legacy .NET Framework.

So this project would need to be moved a newer technology such as .NET MAUI or another alternative.
I've converted many Windows Forms projects to .NET MAUI. It would take a bit of work, but graphically SDA looks straightforward to replicate. This would also be a great opportunity, so that this can be cross platform.

Migration to .net core 8.0 and the latest SteamKit update fixed this problem
