Use the standard library more

I seem to have some strange aversion or dislike for the standard library. Is it actually that strange? I dunno. Regardless, it is silly to not make use of it and possibly hurt development by avoiding it.

Kind of. In #139, you seem to want me to use the standard library instead of parts of DSFMLC, but in this I am saying that I tend to avoid the standard library completely even in code that is already written.
