My comment [here](https://github.com/EssentialsX/Essentials/issues/4325#issuecomment-882121076) still applies. This is a vanilla issue and I'm not sure a workaround should be part of Essentials itself.
Issue appears to be bukkit's `Inventory#containsAtLeast` not including extra slots in the calculation. Will require more hackery from us if that's the case :/

Can you do `/ess debug`, run the give command of the darkoakdoor, and then share the server log?
You're also hundreds of versions out of date, please update before doing the steps above
Update to the latest version [here](https://essentialsx.net/downloads.html) and see if your issue persists
