Assuming stuff like that doesn't happen seems bad -- there were a number of timeout issues even on my local network with the thrift-python simulator.

The main client is currently needlessly sychronous; even in cases where messages are sent at the same logical time (e.g. successive lock in a multiappend) the client still sends them...
