How to Properly use the Backup MX feature

Hi,

i recently enabled the Bacup MX feature on two mailsystems but it seems the servers wont comply. So i just wanted to make shure that i enabled everything the right way:

  1. create mx entry of second mailserver on the dns panel of your donainhoster eg mx1.domain.org 10 mx2.bla.org 20

  2. enter domain on second mailserver (switch active, backupmx switch active)

right, or is there anything else to do?

i couldnt find the backup mx on the admin docs thanks and br, paul

temporarily i added the domain to be backupped into the postfix main.cf relay_domains = example.com and additionally i added maximal_queue_lifetime = 10d so i have a controlled limit, how long the backup mx should act as buffer

i would welcome that the feature would work as intended or somehow documented. as for now it seems the backup mx switch does not really anything, or does it?
