How do I install this for my Gaomon s620?

Open UltimateKaren opened this issue 5 years ago • 29 comments

Hardware/software information

Windows Version: 10 Driver version: Latest, I re-downloaded this because an earlier version has VirusTotal and Malwarebytes detect trojans. This one didn't get any of those Tablet model: Gaomon s620

I'm sorry, I'm really not good with computers and downloading stuff. I downloaded the driver for my Gaomon s620 but I don't know what to do now. Can someone help me get these installed and working?

Gaomon tablets are a bit finnicky, so it has an extra installation step

  1. https://github.com/InfinityGhost/TabletDriver#installation
  2. https://github.com/InfinityGhost/TabletDriver/wiki/Gaomon-Installation

The VirusTotal reports are false positives that can't be overridden afaik so I stopped developing this version. My future efforts have been moved to OpenTabletDriver.

Okay, thank you! I haven't done any of this yet but is this itself VMulti? (Coming from step 2). Also, do I need to do the actions from both 1. and 2. or just one of them? Again, I'm sorry if I'm being annoying. I have no clue how any of this works and just want to click circles lol

  • If you're using the latest release from this repository (v0.3.1a) you can use the VMulti installer which should be listed under the VMulti menu in the GUI
  • You need the actions from both 1 and 2 but in order.

When I tried to find the C:\Temp\TabletDriver path, my file manager automatically put that into "D:\Users\JLRR2_xkcvguy\Downloads\TabletDriver-master.zip\TabletDriver-master\TabletDriverService"

Is that supposed to happen? This happened with the osu! install as well, I was trying to find my skin folder and it was from a completely different place than what the support team recommended. Do I just go on with this as usual? Edit: I'm sorry if I'm being annoying or nagging, I don't mean to sound like that

It sounds like you downloaded the source, here the download link for the latest release.

ghost avatar May 12 '20 00:05 ghost

It didn't let me due to viruses. This is the closest I can do

UltimateKaren avatar May 12 '20 00:05 UltimateKaren

The releases are built on the GitHub servers, so its clean.

This is a false positive, you'll have to disable your antivirus.

ghost avatar May 12 '20 00:05 ghost

My dad won't let me, he'd literally take the PC away from me for good. He's really strict about keeping antivirus on. Is there a way to install these drivers without the latest release version?

UltimateKaren avatar May 12 '20 00:05 UltimateKaren

If you can't disable your antivirus, you could add exclusion in your antivirus software. If you don't want (or you can't) to do any of that, then I recommend trying OpenTabletDriver.

ghost avatar May 12 '20 01:05 ghost

Oh, okay, thank you! I'll try the OpenTabletDriver. Quick question though, does it require the same process to install it for the Gaomon s620 as this one does?

Using OpenTabletDriver should be pretty easy. You download the latest release (although I recommend downloading the latest master artifact). After you download the zip, extract it in a folder, and simply run OpenTabletDriver.exe -- hope that helps.

Where exactly (like what folder within the master) is the .exe for this? I feel dumb af right now Edit: Also, when I tried putting in the simple path recommended, it still autocorrected to "D:\Users\JLRR2_xkcvguy\Downloads\TabletDriver-master.zip\TabletDriver-master\TabletDriverService" but I'm just going to go with it Edit again: nope, read it as invalid. I'm just going to extract to the default option it gives me

You can search folders for exe(s) by typing *.exe in the search bar, if that helps.

I did, nothing showed up :/

UltimateKaren avatar May 12 '20 03:05 UltimateKaren

I'm stumped on what to do at this point. I may as well just return my current tablet and get a supported one instead that can take the original Hawku drivers

UltimateKaren avatar May 12 '20 03:05 UltimateKaren

Nah that's a bit too much work. This shouldn't be too hard to fix. Lets sum everything up though, just so we're on the right page. You've downloaded OpenTabletDriver and unzipped it right? You should get a folder with a bunch of files, and in there, there should be an executable named OpenTabletDriver.exe mixed in with all the rest.

You should just be able to run that.

If you have any problems downloading any release from GitHub, here's a direct download link for the latest master commit.

I extracted it, opened the master folder, and then there are other folders but no visible .exe. Would it be helpful to figure out what's going on with a photo of this?

UltimateKaren avatar May 12 '20 03:05 UltimateKaren

Yeah, an screenshot would help a lot. Also; if you can't get to fix your problem, you can join the OpenTabletDriver discord so we can help you fix it.

Small question, what are you using for extracting the zipped files?

ghost avatar May 12 '20 03:05 ghost

Oh, boy, I don't know, just my Windows file/download manager. I try to interact with this stuff as much as possible because I suck at it. I just right-clicked the master once it downloaded, pressed 'extract all', used the path it gave to me, and that was it. I'm truly sorry, talking to me about this kind of stuff probably equates to trying to have a conversation about ethics with a baby.

I should note you're downloading the wrong file, here I link it again. The name of the .zip is "OTD [6dbf1e7] [7-5-20]". (I know the name is a bit strange, but it's just for organizing purposes, as I have a lot of builds).

ghost avatar May 12 '20 04:05 ghost

Okay. The last one I downloaded was the official OpenTabletDriver but I'll try this one

UltimateKaren avatar May 12 '20 17:05 UltimateKaren

Also, why am I downloading this one instead of the OpenTabletDriver? Is it a different version?

UltimateKaren avatar May 13 '20 21:05 UltimateKaren

The latest file that Vlothx sent is still opentabletdriver but it has the latest changes made to it. It just hasn't been officially released yet.

ghost avatar May 13 '20 21:05 ghost

Okay, when I tried to run the OpenTabletDriver.exe it wouldn't let me. I don't know what to do, I've tried about 5 different versions of these drivers, I've tried forks, I've added virus exceptions for Window's defender, and nothing is working for my damn tablet. If this last version doesn't work, I give up. In comparison, getting a new, cheaper tablet with a couple of months of allowance seems easier than trying to work with a gaomon s620

UltimateKaren avatar May 13 '20 21:05 UltimateKaren

What do I do?

UltimateKaren avatar May 13 '20 22:05 UltimateKaren

Can you get into the #help channel of the discord, it's way easier to talk there than github.
