MutliMC install directory

I want to install impact for MultiMC, but when I run the impact installer, I select 'Install as MultiMC instance' and then it prompts me to select the multiMC file path. Do I select the file path going to the instances directory inside MultiMC or the one before that? I looked at the wiki but it isn't very clear. It says 'locate your MultiMC' install directory. I am also doing this on MacOS Big Sur so I am wondering how the Show Package Contents button affects this file path.

in multimc click folders>view instance folder, its the main folder above that one eg ~/.local/share/PrismLauncher on linux, will be different on macos
