vsphere VS vsphereDB module

I'm on an icinga kick right now... I've installed the vSphereDB and now the vpshere module.

What can I used the vsphere module for? Should I be using this module (vsphere) if I have the vsphereDB module running?
Is there anything to gain?

I like everything I see so, but want to better understand it and streamline my icinga2 environment for what is really needed.
