Icinga2 installable with Windows Package Manager (winget)

Open waja opened this issue 3 years ago • 5 comments

Hi,

I'd like to install icinga2. While this is already possible via 3rd party solution chocolatey, I'd prefer a way that works with onboard tools.

Since some time Windows has a built in Windows Package Manager which makes installation and updating of applications a lot easier. A tool called winget-create can be used to publish a manifest to the Windows Package Manager Community Repository.

Thanks, Jan

Please transfer to packaging.

To whom is this addressed?

Is there any roadmap yet?

No, this is not on any roadmap.

At first glance, it looks like this is just about submitting this to some repo, so looks like this could also be done by anyone from the community. Or does this actually require anything from the maintainers?

On the other hand it looks a bit strange not to officially support the built-in winget while doing the opposite for the 3rd party Chocolatey.

@LordHepipud Do you agree with me or do you think nah, not yet another pkg mgr, just use IfW?
