Feature Request: Project metadata

Open tilorspace opened this issue 2 months ago • 2 comments

Overview of the Feature Request Project identifiers and research activity records like RAiD (raid.org) facilitate reporting and discovery of research outputs via their project identifier. This feature request is about providing a dedicated place in the Dataverse metadata and/or a recommendation for where and how to place project identifiers in the current Dataverse metadata.

What kind of user is the feature intended for? Developers, depositors and researchers/institutions looking for outputs of a specific project

What inspired the request? We're currently developing support for RAiD identifiers in RSpace and would like to propagate that metadata automatically when researchers export data to repositories. See also Discussion in Zulip: #community > RAiD Identifiers

What existing behavior do you want changed?

Any brand new behavior do you want to add to Dataverse?

Any open or closed issues related to this feature request?

Are you thinking about creating a pull request for this feature?
potentially, pending available resources

I'll just hop in here to mention that we at UT Austin are planning to begin testing with RAiDs as part of the North American pilot (https://lyrasis.org/us-raid-pilot-update-initial-use-cases/) that should see activity pick up early next year when we're able to get API access - we had specifically volunteered to be a part of this with an eye towards the Dataverse installation (Texas Data Repository) that we are a part of. That's not to say that we've done really any work towards figuring out how to integrate RAiDs into Dataverse metadata, just that we're interested in the same thing!

@bryanmgee fantastic, we are also part of this pilot (see ResearchSpace). Let me know if you're interested in learning more on our use case and I'm happy to jump on a call.
