Should Collection be able to have a start Canvas/Manifest ?

E.g. for the multi-part Collection that wants to skip over the first Manifest of front matter or straight to a particular Canvas in one of the Manifests.

The range of start is currently:

A Canvas, or part of a Canvas

Is it in fact a variant of the Content State API / Citation API (whatever we call it) in that it's an initialisation "start" state of a viewing experience and could be a description of any IIIF Presentation resource? A viewer would then treat start in content just the same as it treats a content state arriving by any other protocol.

Downside: arbitrarily complex, as discussed in Edinburgh.

:+1: Agree that start is just the most common case of that API but that people might very well want to use the full range of functionality when it's documented and implemented.

I think we leave start as it is, and make a note to consider introducing a new property when the API is ready, in the subsequent minor version of Prezi, and an extension until then.

Propose defer until we actually have the content state / (etc) API as should be inter-API normative reference.

Is this a duplicate of: https://github.com/IIIF/api/issues/1991?
