Upgrade Python and networkx

Hello. Is this project still alive? Would anyone be interested in upgrading Python and networkx versions? I have done on a fork it for my own purposes. At least the scripts mentioned in the README run fine. But I did not try to run other tests. I would be happy to contribute.
