A server error occured, 403
Slide version: 5.7.2 Android version: 8.1.0 on Pixel XL
Every time I open Slide now, it gives me error 403. I tried force closing it, dismissing from recent apps, even backed up my settings/un-installed/re-installed/restored settings. Still nothing.
This was happening on 8.0 before upgrading to 8.1.0 also. And it was working just fine before that on 8.0... so it's not an issue on this phone, necessarily.
Have you tried login in to reddit via their website? I got a notification there that I had to change my password (because of a possible hack detected) and after I did, the problem was resolved.
Unfortunately, that didn't do anything. Went to the site on my computer, logged out / back in. No notification about passwords or anything. Thanks for the idea, though
Any thoughts on this from the developer? I have the paid version of Slide, and I can't use it because it does absolutely nothing.
What sort of connection are you using? Wifi/cellular/VPN/Tor
Can you log into the Reddit mobile site on your phone just fine?
Do any other Reddit apps that use OAuth work?
403 errors are unfortunately ambiguous without the sub code that you probably aren't receiving client side. I'm not convinced logcat would really reveal much either but knowing your network set up and behavior of the site and other apps could help us narrow it down.
@lobuzz311 the error just means Reddit has not granted Slide access to use their API with your account, either temporarily in the case that your token has expired, or if the issue is consistently happening, possibly permanently for your account. Try logging back in or resetting Slide's data
I have the same problem. It happens from time to time, clearing cache helps everytime. Just did it again a few minutes ago. In my case the cashew was 1gb, which is a little bit suspicious. My bet though is on the fact that my account is shadowbanned.
Second time this has happened to me. Clearing the cache and force killing slide worked.
Could be a shadow ban. I've never had this issue on Slide vertion 5.9-alpha2. Might be resolved but this issue needs to be verified that this is still a issue before it any further action can be taken.
I have a routine set up to reboot my phone every Saturday just to keep things tidy, and I always get Server Error 403 after starting Slide for the first time. Sometimes flipping between subs will fix it, sometimes force closing the app and reopening it will fix it, but often the fix is just to wait a couple hours and try again.
