Increase in Spam Activity

For the past 2.5 years, I've been utilizing the plugin on our WordPress Multisite network without encountering any significant issues related to spam. However, over the last month, there has been a noticeable surge in spam activity. Initially, I suspected that it might be linked to the latest plugin update, as this issue coincided with the update release in September. However, upon closer inspection, I couldn't identify any specific changes related to spam prevention in the update.

I wanted to bring this matter to your attention in case others are experiencing a similar increase in spam activity.

To mitigate the issue, I am planning to explore and implement the solution mentioned here: GitHub Issue #103.
