MaterialSideNav does not feel the current place

As happen in your excellent demo, the SideNav does not "feel" the current place. Clicking on a component from the demo site (ex. "Cards") makes the corresponding SideNav link selected but if the current place is not choosen by the menu but comes from en event or is manually selected (appending the place name token to the URL) the SideNav show the wrong selected item and does not refresh itself.
