Add Linux support

Open krakerz opened this issue 2 months ago • 3 comments

First of all, i've been using this apps nowdays (when in windows ofc) but due recent policy by Microsoft, and broke most of the feature that i need few updates ago (like localhost not open etc), i've decided to migrate to Linux now (also gaming in linux is great now due their proton, as for developers, no need to ask, it's always be better in native linux instead windows + WSL)

Now the question is, is there any plan for linux support ahead? or maybe binary that's non uwp version ? because via wine / proton, i can't install the UWP version installer

the only solution for Linux user for now is, create a windows VM and install the apps from there 😅

*i'm just curious tbh

Hello!

That's 2 requests for a Linux version in the span of days.

Linux support has always been on the table, but me being a server-only Linux user, I never had a motivation to do a port. Still, and given those requests, I'm currently evaluating the best way to port the app.

I have not decided yet what I'm going to do, but one way or another there is going to be a Linux port at some point.

well, tbh me too linux server guy for long time 🤣 (mostly using debian based for server, and still now) but i've been jumping into the linux wagon now (using CachyOS now, arch based)

good to know if there will be linux port at some point

but, i do think for the fastest way (maybe ?, idk the development difficulty for this) perhaps make it out of UWP version, so like standalone version, so we can try it via wine like other windows apps (tbh as long it's not UWP app, mostly can be installed)

*also i didn't know there is linux request beforehand (i do search the issue first tbh)

Running the app through Wine or Proton is not possible because both don't implement the XAML stack i.e. the UI framework.

It was requested on LANraragi's Discord.
