U64 Elite-II: option for 4/3 HDMI resolution

Open d0plr opened this issue 7 months ago • 2 comments

Hi,

I am using my U64 Elite-II with a 4/3 VGA CRT, through a simple HDMI2VGA adapter. This CRT works great on line-doubled PAL & NTSC sources, and so does the adapter. Unfortunately the U64 seems to use a fixed resolution with a wide 16/9 image ratio, resulting in a squished image and making the u64 menu unusable.

Is there a way to configure it to output a 4/3 resolution ? For example, keeping the original C64 resolution and vertical frequency, and doubling the horizontal one ? Another option would be SXGA+ (1400x1050), which would also work fine.

Thanks!

I could try 1440 x 1080? The difficulty is that the scaler is fixed to achieve optimal performance and picture clarity. So if I want to produce other resolutions, I have to construct other, or more complicated scalers.

That should work too. Thanks a lot for considering it! There's no rush of course, I'm sure you have a lot more going on right now. I'll be there if and when you can release a firmware update to test. And a big thank you for your dedication and amazing products :)
