Data import functionality for other Interferometry packages

Open mcgarth opened this issue 10 years ago • 11 comments

Help wanted from anyone with operational experience in the interferometry software listed below (we only have current experience with Gamma)

PyRate can currently read Gamma and Roi_Pac products. To encourage wider use in the community we may need to implement other product readers for the following (in the order of MG's perceived 'priority'):

  1. ISCE (JPL free but not licence free) - adapt existing ROI_PAC code in PyRate?
  2. Sentinel-1 Toolbox (ESA free software)
  3. DORIS (Delft, free software)
  4. GMTSAR (UCSD, free)
  5. SARSCAPE (commercial, maybe no benefit to including this)

We need to add support to convert input data from packages into Geotif.

Inputs from an emerging software of ISCE should be supported by PyRate. Below Github scripts briding ISCE with GIAnT are examples that may be useful for bridging ISCE and PyRate (though I am not sure how PyRate works to date). https://github.com/LuyenKhacBui/ISCE2GIAnT

@LuyenKhacBui it would be useful for us if you could share some output files from ISCE since we are not using that software here. We'd need examples of:

  • geocoded unwrapped interferograms
  • interferometric coherence
  • amplitude/intensity images
  • dem image
  • incidence angle image
  • all associated metadata files for the above.images. Anything else @basaks?

As a minium we need some ISCE format Interferograms and DEM, and the corresponding metadata/header files. @LuyenKhacBui, please share some sample files.

Hi @mcgarth and @basaks I can share a directory associated with a sentinel-1 interferogram with you. The dir is quite large, so can you please provide me your emails so that I can share via OneDrive

@LuyenKhacBui I have emailed you at the address I found in your RSE paper.

Hi

I am wanting to convert from the matlab-based version of pyrate to this python-based version. I am using ISCE products, and am running into issues with the conv2tif step. Is this the appropriate place to raise questions about specific errors?

Thanks for any help, and thank you for providing an awesome github repo

Hi @Jesse-kearse, thanks for your interest in using PyRate! Version 0.5.0 supports ROI_PAC format data, but not ISCE. At some point we intend to re-phase our ROI_PAC reader codes to read ISCE format instead, but I cannot promise when we will get to it I am afraid.

Hi Matt

Thanks for your email, and for the use of your product.

I did notice that you do not explicitly support ISCE, however, I thought that as ROI_PAC outputs are similar to those from ISCE, that one could generate .rsc files for each interferogram and pretend that they are ROI_PAC files. My colleagues and I have been doing this successfully with the matlab version.

Perhaps there are other reasons why this is not yet possible with this version of Pyrate?

Hi @Jesse-kearse, I've made a new ticket to look at the specifics of your problem with conv2tif. Please can you add some detail here: https://github.com/GeoscienceAustralia/PyRate/issues/305

Thanks for your help, Matt

I have added some details. Apologies, I can't seem to copy paste text effectively, and the example .vrt file does not display well on the comments
