Pretty bad ghosting with alpha-tested materials

I'm getting pretty bad ghosting of objects that are behind or front of high-detail, alpha tested materials such as fences. I'd imagine that depth rejection would take care of these pretty easily but this doesn't seem to be the case. Turning up reactivity on these kills the ghosting, but obviously is a bad idea otherwise. Anyone else experiencing similar behavior?
