Hi, Is there a way to make some tracks invisible to some users?

Thank you in advance,

Michal

What is the exact use case?

Currently, you can make tracks non-public if desired: https://genomearchitect.readthedocs.io/en/latest/Configure.html#hiding-jbrowse-tracks-from-the-public

You can also upload your track directly to JBrowse (visible to ONLY you), but its less permanent.

Are you wanting your evidence tracks to be visible to some authenticated users and groups, but not others?

Hi Nathan, Our genome is at the moment, not public. We gave external users access to it. However, we would like to exclude a few tracks from the external uses and make them only visible for our group right now.

Is there a way?

Thank you in advance,

Michal

Sorry for the late reply. I think this is a great idea and I've been wanting to do this for awhile. I'll give it a try and see how hard this is to implement.

Hi @nathandunn ,

I was wondering if this functionality is still planned to be implemented? We have the same use case as mictadlo in our lab, and this solution would be perfect.

This functionality will probably not be implemented here, but we will keep it in mind as we are working on the next iteration of Apollo that runs on JBrowse 2.

That being said, PRs are always welcome if anyone in the community wants to try implementing it.
