How to register TinyGS without Telegram?

Hello I'm very new to TinyGS, and just installed 2509061 on the Pycom's LoPy board. It seems working, I was able to access the local dashboard and set edit the configuration. Except MQTT credentials and TinyGS portal registration, as I cannot use the Telegram apps on my phone. Is there any way to register the TinyGS without Telegram? Thank you.

Anyone? I too very much prefer to have nothing dependent on those apps. It's basically a breakpoint for me; if there is no other way, I'm not going to have everything I need drop shipped to me so I can set up a station next week.

EDIT: And I would very much like to get a station stood up next week.

I signed up for Telegram specifically to register with TinyGS and my Telegram account was immediately locked for violating terms of service, despite me having done literally nothing with Telegram yet.

Is there documentation on the backend services tied to Telegram? Or a code repository for said services? If the project is looking for assistance in moving away from Telegram, those would be helpful for external contributors.

i am also hoping there will be a possibility in the future to set up a tinygs receiver without being forced to download 'telegram' ...

Given the complete lack of responsiveness on the part of the project ownership concerning this issue, I'm beginning to think we should fork this project away from the gatekeepers and base a new system off it that depends on nothing resembling telegram, discord, or other nonsense involving corporate interests.

And while we're at it, we can migrate the project off of windows.

Hello, and welcome to the TinyGS community!

You are correct, registration via Telegram has been our primary method. However, a non-Telegram registration path has been available since early this summer and we have already registered several groups (schools, bootcamps..) using only their email.

Since you cannot use Telegram, here is the immediate solution for you:

1. Access your local console (or the web dashboard terminal).
2. Type the command !w to request your unique web login link.
3. Use this link to log in to tinygs.com. You can then add your email address to your profile, making future logins simpler—no Telegram needed.

We initially waited for existing Telegram users to link their emails to prevent duplicate accounts.

We are planning to open email-only registration to new users in the upcoming Christmas release.
