LoraAPRS while idle?

Since there is a lot of time between satellite passes, it would be great if the hardware could be used in between passes to listen for LoraAPRS stations and pass on this data to aprs servers.

Like using code for an igate such as this one: https://github.com/richonguzman/LoRa_APRS_iGate while in between satellite passes.
