Affected app version

1.3.0

Affected Android/Custom ROM version

Graphene OS

Affected device model

Pixel 8

How did you install the app?

F-Droid / IzzyOnDroid

Steps to reproduce the bug

When typing a message with dual sims, the sim switching button is very close to the keyboard which results in inadvertent presses.

Expected behavior

I expect that when I'm messaging someone that I don't switch the SIM by accident.

Actual behavior

I frequently switch the SIM without knowing it which confuses the recipient and gives away my private 2nd number.

Screenshots/Screen recordings

No response

Additional information

Could you make an option to make the button toggle on long-press, pop up a warning when switching, or an option to hide it in a menu?

SIM selection could be moved to the conversation details screen, but I'm not sure how often people switch SIMs in a conversation.

That would be super helpful. Maybe you could have an option on where to place it to please both types of users?

It would be really great to be able to select a SIM card on the details screen. I don't think anyone switches SIM cards for every text message in a conversation.

Yes but, the Messages App must read from the phone's preferred SIM that was chosen for new conversations, and if the user wishes to change the SIM for a specific contact, he can do so as @recruitersmv and @ikanakova have mentioned above under the conversation details screen.

But a very important note here to avoid issues in future: Existing conversations that already have started speaking with SIM 1 for example, should not be affected after the preferred SIM is changed. And for peace of mind the user must always see which SIM he is using in the current conversation.

I think moving the SIM switch button to the details is easier than implementing the #71 and #154, so developers could implement this issue first. Accidental SIM switching really is frequent and very annoying and it would be great if this bug could be fixed soon.
