Affected app version

1.1.7

Affected Android/Custom ROM version

stock Android 12 from Nokia

Affected device model

TA-1283

How did you install the app?

F-Droid / IzzyOnDroid

Steps to reproduce the bug

  1. go to a foreign country
  2. ask someone for her local number
  3. start SMS conversation with this local number with an abbreviated prefix (e.g. use "0" instead of "+49")
  4. send the message and notice it does not get send (because your SIM did assume some other prefix based on SIM origin)
  5. try to correct the SMS number by changing "0" to "+49"
  6. send a message only to see it did not get sent as the corrected number got again automatically changed to the original one with the local "0" prefix

Expected behavior

correcting the number will indeed correct it

Actual behavior

number did not get corrected, hence sending SMS messages does not work

Screenshots/Screen recordings

I tried deleting the whole conversation and creating a new one with the correctly prefixed number ("+49") but it only created again the same wrongly prefixed conversation. Apparently the entry is still in the DB as a unique identifier forever 😢

Additional information

No response

I do have the same issue, with Fossify or Quik: impossible for a contact to send a sms because it's remembered as 336xxxx instead of +336xxx. Can't correct it. Only the native Lineageos sms app seems able to send correctly for that contact.
