Affected device model
Oppo Reno 12
How did you install the app?
F-Droid / IzzyOnDroid
Steps to reproduce the bug
1.Save any contact as usual:
a. Tap the '+' icon b. Insert any first name, surname and number c. Select SIM2 d. Save by tapping on the tick mark e. It shows "inserting.."
- Restart phone
- My saved contact is not there anymore
Expected behavior
I expect my saved contact to be there. The contacts i had prior to using the app is still there but all the saved contacts via this app is gone.
Actual behavior
I dont know. I think the app doesnt actually save my contacts for some reason. Probably keeps it on some short memory or something instead of saving it in my sim.
Screenshots/Screen recordings
No response
Additional information
The only thing that i can think of is that i linked my whatsapp to my laptop browser (it didnt show my saved numbers. Showed only the contactsf from my email address ) just prior to this bug showing up. But i dont think thats connected
I could not reproduce it.
- How many contacts do you have on your SIM card?
- What happens when you save contacts to the phone storage or a synchronized account instead of your SIM card? Do the contacts still disappear?
- Have you tried to save your contacts using some other contacts app (e.g. your system contacts app or google contacts) ? If yes, do those apps work as expected?
* How many contacts do you have on your SIM card?
120 in sim1 and 23 in sim2
* What happens when you save contacts to the phone storage or a synchronized account instead of your SIM card? Do the contacts still disappear?
They dont disappear
* Have you tried to save your contacts using some other contacts app (e.g. your system contacts app or google contacts) ? If yes, do those apps work as expected?
Yes they work as expected. Now i have 24 in sim2
I think I just had this problem the other way round. My new SIM card had some predefined numbers which I wanted to remove with the Fossify contacts app. After I restarted my phone, all the numbers were back again. With the Google contacts app I could finally delete them.
What I found out while trying to stop the numbers from reappearing:
- On every restart of the phone there is a system app called Simprocessor (com.mediatek.simprocessor) which seems to sync the numbers from the SIM card to a temporary(?) address book (called "USIM2" on my device)
- Deleting the numbers from this address book will delete the numbers until restart
- Once the device is restarted, this address book is reset to the numbers from the SIM card
It seems that deleting or adding entries in this address book does not delete or add the number from/to the SIM card. Perhaps the Android address book API isn't capable of this and a more direct access to the SIM card numbers is needed? In the Google contacts app the SIM card numbers where also in a seperate list.
I make a try and I have a similar issue. I can save contacts with Fossify Phone on destinations called "USIM3" and "SDN3", but in both cases contacts disappear after restarting the phone. With the stock contatcs app both destinations do not appear at all and I can save contacts only on my Google account and on the phone.
I can confirm this issue on the OneNZ (formerly Vodafone) Smart Green (on two different devices) and Smart P24 (both manufactured by MobiWire.) The former runs Android 11 Go, the latter Android 13 Go. Both devices had a USIM# and SIM# option for contact storage, but no Phone storage. The Smart Green can load a second SIM card, but the Smart P24 cannot.
This issue did not occur for me on the OneNZ Smart N12 (also MobiWire, Android 10 Go), nor on the Cat S22 Flip (manufactured by Bullitt Group, Android 11 Go). The S22 Flip only has a "Phone" and "Private" option for storage,
