Feature description

Hi everyone,

I recently switched from a Samsung Galaxy S9 (used since 2018) to an Asus Zenfone 10, and I’ve been testing out Fossify Calendar. Overall, I’m really impressed — it’s clean, fast, and gives a very similar feel to the Samsung Calendar app, which I’ve relied on for years.

That said, I’d love to see one small but impactful feature:

  • Event Autocomplete with History: On Samsung Calendar, if I often scheduled a class called “Mathieu” every Friday at 11:00, the app would remember it — title, time, and color — and suggest it as soon as I typed a few letters. This made adding recurring events super quick. Fossify currently lacks this smart suggestion feature.

Besides that, it’s a great app and I really appreciate the clean, open-source approach. This addition would make it even better for power users.

Why do you want this feature?

I want this feature because it would make event scheduling much faster and more efficient. Having the app remember recurring events like classes and suggesting them automatically saves time and reduces the hassle of manually entering the same details every time. It’s a small change, but it would make a big difference in streamlining my experience.

Good to know that you're enjoying the app. Please edit the title to be more specific so it's clear what this issue is about (i.e., autocomplete).

In addition to autocompleting the tasks based on the first few letters entered, it would be great if the app remembered which calendars a task was entered for (I have several agendas configured) and automatically selected the right one based on that autocompletion. 😁

This is also what Samsung calendar does, and it's really the last thing I'm missing in fossify calendar.

@naveensingh good catch thank you, I didn't find this issue on my own.

@SwissmonBeat to clarify if this is the same feature I described, is it like when you create a new event and start typing the event name you get a dropdown list of events with similar names, and then if you select one it will copy all the event details from the selected to the one you're currenctly editing, inlcuding duration, but excluding the date and starting time?

I came here looking for the same functionality.

This is exactly what I'd like, and the same function for "Location" as well (if location can be filled by the event selected by the drop-down, that would be fantastic!).

It's requested here: https://github.com/FossifyOrg/Calendar/issues/393.

Yes, that's exactly the feature I was referring to! I really hope it gets added soon — Samsung Calendar has had it since before 2018 ;)
