Explorer Plugin RegEx Search

Open cibere opened this issue 11 months ago • 1 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

I'd like to be able to search by files using regex opposed to the literal path search, or fuzzy search.

Describe the solution you'd like

Another action keyword added to the explorer plugin, which when used will let you use a RegEx to search your files

Describe alternatives you've considered

Opening the everything program's gui and searching there (they have a setting to search by RegEx opposed to the normal fuzzy/literal searching)

Additional context

Add any other context or screenshots about the feature request here.

Could you please give me some examples that require you to do regex search.

Well in my case, I have a bunch of files in the format of <name> <num>.<ext> (ex: Review 1.docx). With the current matching system, I don't know of a way to just search for all of the files with the name set to Review and ext set to docx. So, the best I can do is search for Review and mentally ignore all of the false hits, or use the everything application directly.

This could become quite powerful when used with Custom Query Shortcuts.
