"Avoid trap" for thief
I think each trapped chest or dungeon should have a random number assigned to it, and if that number is equal to or lower than a thief's level, the monster-in-a-box doesn't trigger. Being able to open doors is a neat QOL feature but becomes moot very quickly. Obviously each chest having its own variable could be expensive so tying it to the map would be an option.
This concept could also be applied to forced encounter tiles, and could be "toggled" by requiring a thief in the leader slot.
