Filament Block Base built in supports are fragile

Open ressu opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

The built in supports in the Filament Block base have a very thin portion at the bottom. Even when the bed adhesion holds up, it's very likely that the thin portion flexes enough for the print to fail:

By adding a small support to the very thinnest part makes the print much more reliable (from 16% success rate to 100% success rate)

While this is a quick fix for the print, there is another issue with the same built in support where the bottom 2 layers float in air before connecting with the colum that reaches up from the bottom.

It doesn't seem that these 2 loose layers reduce reliability noticeably, but sometimes there are artifacts in the print because the supports move around and stick to the parts.

I'm literally just reprinting more of these as 4 failed exactly as described
