[QUESTION] How is decommission implemented?
What you want to achieve
I would like to know about how decommissioning is implemented in MUSE.
In section 9.3.6 of the documentation, there is a brief description of decommissioning says: "The CSV file provides the installed capacity for the base year and the decommissioning profile for future periods for each technology in a sector [...]"
Does this imply that the decommissioning of a technology (e.g., a gas boiler) is defined exogenously based on the ExistingCapacity.csv file?
If so, how is newly invested capacity decommissioned, i.e., the capacity added during the model running?
Context
Hi @Jin-Jun-Mei,
The decommissioning profile provided in ExistingCapacity.csv only applies to the existing capacity defined in that file. Any additional capacity installed as part of the simulation will be decommissioned after the number of years specified by the TechnicalLife parameter in Technodata.csv. Does that answer your question?
Yes, Thank you very much Tom. It's very clear!
@Jin-Jun-Mei You're welcome! I'm just going to reopen the issue for now to remind me to clarify this in the documentation
