"Efficiency" parameter in techno data is misleading
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
A clear and concise description of what the problem is. Ex. I'm always frustrated when [...]
"Efficiency" is a required input in techno data. Users intuitively assume this is used in calculations to determine consumption/production of the technology, but it isn't. According to the documentation at section "9.3.7 Agents" it is only used where efficiency is an agent objective. The problem here is that the presence of "efficiency" in input techno data is confusing to new users, so it would be better if it was not there.
Describe the solution you'd like
A clear and concise description of what you want to happen.
Preferred solution is that for each technology primary input commodities and primary output commodities should be identified by the user. Efficiency should then be calculated internally based on the sum of primary outputs commodities divided by the sum of primary input commodities. "efficiency" can then be removed from input techno data. I appreciate that the "primary commodities" point will also need some thought and explanation to users, but I think this is better than the current arrangement.
Describe alternatives you've considered
A clear and concise description of any alternative solutions or features you've considered.
Leave as is, but explain what "efficiency" is much more up front and clearly in the documentation. This is also a possible solution, if the above turns out to be too hard.

Slightly clarified as part of #495, but I agree it would be better if this parameter didn't exist
