🐞 Unicode in manifest files is being encoded as ASCII

Current Behavior

Names like Raúl are being encoded as Ra\u00fal in the manifest.json file during serialization.

Expected Behavior

Instead, no encoding should occur, if UTF-8 goes in, UTF-8 should come back out
