[FEATURE] Admin page feature - manual event merge

Open amandamartin-dev opened this issue 2 years ago â€ĸ 6 comments

Description

Events are grouped now, but the grouping may miss depending on how the input is received. This feature would allow admins to merge 2 or more events that are the same into one via an admin interface that would allow:

  1. Selection of which to merge into the other (ex. which title to keep)

Current example of issue this would solve - Duplicated WeAreDevs Con: event duplicate

This is a great idea 👍 As we do have some the same but with different urls so cannot be auto merged - I will mark as blocked until the admin section is a bit further along

This is a cool Idea I would like to work on this.

  • I would like to add one more thing. As it is said that the "prevention is better than cure" it would be better if we do not allow user to paste the link if it already exists and notify user that this event already exists.

Problems comes when two different users post same event with different links. for example 👇:

image Both of the URLs points to the same event. But the URLs are different.

  • I think this can be solved using time of the event and the domain. The idea is that the organisers would never conduct two tech events at the same time.
  • I would like to ask the community for any better ideas about filtering the same events.

Could we have the admin just update the domain to make them consistent and then the app will automatically merge the events
