A lead is not a subclass of sea ice
This term needs to be moved. The relevant ENVO IRI is http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/ENVO_01001551
Maybe it refers to this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lead_(sea_ice)
@pbuttigieg how would we represent this in ENVO (isn't the relevant PURL http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/ENVO_00002200 ?)?
@cmungall Actually we were just dealing with this in ENVO during our mini-hackathon. So the editors version of ENVO has the new updates. I need to figure out what to do with it in SWEET, though of course anyone is welcome to make suggestions!
Ah, I hadn't done a git pull, I see it now!
Sorry for the ENVO chatter, but while I am here:
- I would add logical defs for all the subclasses of lead ice. I might even define a yaml DP for ice lead (even though there may only be a handful of classes, it helps to make modeling decisions explicit)
- will polynya be a narrow synonym or a new class?
- should the parent 'ice lead' not be linked to both water (part of) and ice (adjacent to)?
You're probably on this already, if so ignore!
-
Yeah lots of work to do - will mostly be in ENVO as I don't want to do the details twice but do want to make SWEET and ENVO consistent down to the level that SWEET goes.
-
I'm not sure that adding polynya to SWEET is warranted (need to look at the rest of SWEET - we are only working on the realmCryo.ttl file at the moment.
-
lead is not part of water as a lead might actually be new ice if it is freezing - ENVO has been appropriately updated for that.
