use flightplot to tune controller

I found a guide about how to use flight to tune controller,the website is http://www.pixhawk.org/dev/flightplot_pos_control but I have some questions as following 1、what it says hold altitude means switch to ALTCTL mode? 2、how to use flightplot to tune position controller and attitude controller?
