Feature request: Overall improvement to the media player

Some points I came up with:

• Make it load faster: Even if the media in question is already downloaded and viewed in the timeline, clicking on the media takes too long to view it in full screen
• Make your own UI: The default iOS media viewer isn't good enough. I don't need to view the name of the file and to saves it to files in 2 clicks, I want to be able to favorite a post straight from the media viewer

This is one of the two most glaring issues with the app. Tapping on the media results in horrible UX. There is a sluggish response, followed by a strange screen opening where the video is often not displayed, or if it is displayed it's paused. Closing the window and returning to the feed is also sluggish and painful.

Not sure, if I should open a separate issue, but I think the following fits in here:

Currently, if you click the „i“ button while a video is playing, the separate iOS video player opens the video in addition to the already playing video in the background. If you play the video in the newly opened player, you have the same video playing simultaneously with the other one in the background. Ideally, this should be synced, so pressing „i“ opens the new player with the playing/paused state and position of the integrated player. Or at least pause the video, so it’s impossible for the same video to be played in two different views at the same time.
