Meteor M2-4 on board time error

Open SKnox-coder opened this issue 1 year ago • 12 comments

current time of pass should be used to generate the geo map as the onboard clock on Meteor M2-4 is corrupted

This is not possible, you will not now the timestamp in a ms resolution. Also start of the recording of the pass is not equal to the timestamp of the first decoded packet.

Why couldn't you generate the geo map based on the pass time and orbital elements. The on-board time is unstable, and the geo map does not reflect the correct satellite position

Because it is not possible to now the pass time. There is not reference without the timestamp from the packet

Digitelektro avatar Feb 10 '25 19:02 Digitelektro

the recording name holds the pass date and time

SKnox-coder avatar Feb 10 '25 19:02 SKnox-coder

But as I said it is not punctual. Between the start of the recording and the actual first decoded valid packet, the elapsed time is not known.

Digitelektro avatar Feb 10 '25 19:02 Digitelektro

can a capture be generated with no geo map overlay? is that an option?

SKnox-coder avatar Feb 10 '25 19:02 SKnox-coder

No, there is no such option. I am sure timestamp will be fixed soon on the satellite.

Digitelektro avatar Feb 10 '25 19:02 Digitelektro

I'm not convinced the issue is even onboard the satellite

Will have a look at it. I don't have LRPT receiving system right now, but I asked some forum members to provide some cadus

Digitelektro avatar Feb 11 '25 18:02 Digitelektro

So I have got a cadu file, with satdump the overlay is slightly off, but meteordemod draw it perfectly. Can you upload a file containing the decoded pictures, the cadu and tle file? You can use swisstransfer or something similar to transfer the files. Thanks

Digitelektro avatar Feb 11 '25 18:02 Digitelektro

Ok I know I have the correct tle file Offline processing a pass recording with satdump causes it to crash when generating timestamps I will upload a cadu file as soon as I can Is the cadu you have recent? This seems to have started happening last week and others are having the same issue thanks
