Bedrock edition minecraft is made with c++, whereas java edition is made with, you guessed, java. So it would be a whole different codebase

True, also I don't think mods really exist for Bedrock, but if they do, change my mind.
They sort of do. They are called behaviour packs or add-ons, but still, different codebase.

Bedrock Edition Mods are fundamentally different, also the behavior packs or add-ons are limited for now. Java Mods are technically more powerful as is it is a full fledged modification in the game without modifying the actual game(except for the modloaders), whereas in BE it is limited on the modding.
Like the idea, but alas, Microsoft is greedy and Bedrock Edition has no mod support other than behaviour packs. It is another reason why I avoid playing it (other than the mountain of bugs, exploits, and behaviours such as moving around).
