Feature: Proxy exposes special "null" value or user-defined value when no card is being proxied

Short description:

The Proxy currently throws an error if the Proxy does not currently have a Variable Card to mirror.

Propose that the Proxy be allowed to provide a special null-type value or optionally a user-defined "default" should the Proxy not currently have a card to mirror.
